Community Votes for Holland BPW Fiber
BroadbandAs Holland’s municipal utility, our purpose is to help our local community flourish. The people of Holland gave future generations an advantage when they voted to make Holland BPW a public entity in 1893. Today, Holland residents and businesses benefit from local, reliable, and affordable utility services.
Creating Resilience in our Water Service
WaterThis past spring our teams undertook one of our largest water main projects, a project we have planned and designed for years. Results of a 2019 study indicated a need for redundancy with our largest water main. In response, we installed a new pipeline one block north of the existing water main to improve reliability.
Maximizing Wastewater Resources
WastewaterOur Water Reclamation Facility sits on River Ave near the banks of Lake Macatawa. Because of its location, the plant is limited in physical space for future expansion. Holland BPW works to protect our limited resources and ensure that our capacity to treat wastewater remains available for all customers even as our community grows.
Improving Energy Efficiency Together
ElectricHolland BPW and the City of Holland share a passion for the Community Energy Plan (CEP). When the James DeYoung Coal Plant closed and Holland Energy Park went into full operation in 2017, the City of Holland’s emissions were cut in half. This transition left us asking if our goal was aggressive enough.
