Letter from the General Manager:
Dave Koster
Welcome to our 2018 Annual Report. In this year’s report, we work to bring to life the projects, people and outcomes that create value for the residential and business customers throughout our service area.
In many of the stories in this report you may notice a recurring theme: Doing things the right way. This theme should come as no surprise because throughout the last 125 years, HBPW has made a priority of taking the time and care to do all projects the right way.
Through careful research, planning and execution of projects, HBPW has been able to exceed expectations and deliver long-lasting, quality results to the Holland community. This year’s stories show how this tactical, planned approach can result in even better-than-expected results.
Through careful research, planning and execution of projects, HBPW has been able to exceed expectations and deliver long-lasting, quality results to the Holland community.
At Holland Energy Park, that’s about contributing to the overall electric budget coming in significantly under budget and returning the savings to our customers in the form of lower rates. In our Broadband business, it’s about providing access to lightning-fast service at affordable rates. In the Water Reclamation Facility, it’s about carefully researching anaerobic digestion to develop innovative, proactive solutions.
These and other stories in the 2018 Annual Report give a clear picture of how Holland Board of Public Works anticipates, plans and acts to do things correctly and exceed community expectations on utility services. We want our customers to know they are the owners of HBPW and our goal is to provide exceptional utility services.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading these stories about some key developments at HBPW. From power, to water reclamation, to broadband and sparkling clean water, these services have a major impact on the quality of life in our community. We’re proud to have done things right throughout the last 125 years, and we promise to continue doing our job to do things the right way.
