Tim Hemingway, Board President
Tim is a long-time resident of the Holland area, but has also lived in Brazil, California, and Texas. Tim worked for SAF Holland for 31 years in various roles including General Manager of Texas Operations, Vice President International, President of Holland USA and President of Global Aftermarket Business for SAF Holland. Tim was recently on the Board of Directors for TMD Friction, Luxembourg and volunteers with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland.
Diane Haworth, Board Vice President
A Holland resident since 1995, Diane is currently the Sustainability Marketing Manager at NSF International in Ann Arbor, MI. She has also worked for Haworth, Inc., where she served as Sustainability Manager. Prior to that role, she was a Product Manager and Team Leader for Haworth’s China Project during a year’s residence in Shanghai. Diane is active in the Holland Community Sustainability Committee and Grand Valley Artists, a fine arts association in Grand Rapids.
Phil Miller, Board Member
A Holland native, Phil began mowing lawns at Howard Miller at age 10. In 2008, he retired from his position as the company’s CEO. In addition to his work at Howard Miller, Phil has served on boards at Hope College, Bethany Christian Services and ODL, Inc. He and his wife also coordinate Christmas presents for 475 foster children each year.
Sue Franz, Board Member
A resident of Holland since 1997, Dr. Sue Franz is the Vice President of Chemistry R & D at Gentex Corporation in Zeeland. Sue received her PH.D. in Chemistry from Villanova University in Villanova, PA.
Sue is a graduate of the Chamber’s West Coast Leadership program, serves as a board member for Ready For School of Holland, and is an advisory board member of Holland Kids Food Baskets. Sue and her husband, Berthold, are founders of the Franz Family Scholarship, an endowed scholarship with the Holland and Zeeland Foundation. She is also a member of Rotary International.
Paul Lilly, Board Member
A Holland resident since 1987, Paul operated a cleaning and facility services business in Holland for 18 years, retiring in July after selling the business. Paul worked with Herman Miller in their Facility Management Institute, Production, and Customer Service operations for 21 years. As part of the original Holland Sustainability Committee, he helped develop the Community Energy Plan and the Sustainability Framework.
Paul has been active in the Macatawa Watershed Project serving on the education and technical teams. He holds a BS and MS in Resource Development from Michigan State University with focus on Water Resource Management and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Bob Shilander, Ex Officio Board Member
Bob Shilander and his family have lived in Park Township for 16 years. He has spent 44 years in the design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and de-commissioning of electrical generation facilities of various fuel and renewable design types. He has held corporate management positions ranging from engineering, construction management, supervision, and owner on power projects in the United States and overseas.
He serves on the Advisory Board for the School of Engineering & Built Environment at Ferris State University and ICEE Accreditation Team Member. After retirement, giving back, through volunteerism has been Job One throughout the West Michigan Community.
