Lemonjellos customers now get their morning boost with more than just caffeine.

Matthew Scott was traveling with his band performing at local venues, when he thought of a business opportunity. The band performed at coffee shop after coffee shop, and each had one shortcoming in common: they were either really good at being a venue or really good at being a coffee shop. Matthew saw the gap and started a business plan to solve the problem.

Now almost 13 years later, LemonJello’s Coffee is a thriving part of the downtown Holland community. And if you don’t believe us, stop on down to the shop on a Tuesday afternoon, (or really any time), and see full seats and listen to the sounds of laptop keys clicking and espresso brewing.

Aside from an interesting history and great coffee, LemonJello’s has another advantage. It’s partnered with Holland Board of Public Work’s fiber internet pilot program. The program allowed Matthew and his patrons to try fiber internet service.

Dependable internet services have become a requirement of coffee shops, fueled by the increase in laptops and mobile devices. College students, small business owners and residents alike heavily rely on consistent internet connections.

“The fiber internet service is significantly faster and much more reliable,” Matthew said. “Before, we were constantly rebooting the router, and now we have better results than we ever expected.”

LemonJello’s allowed HBPW to experiment with two different router systems to see which offered the best results. Both offered LemonJello’s guests superior internet service. “Some patrons came in to try it out once they heard about the program. All the feedback was positive,” said Matthew.

The fiber service and router set up extends up to sixty connections at once, allowing all of the guests to experience extremely fast internet while they slowly enjoy their coffees.
